Online Safety

Online safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. We also want to help our parents and children improve their understanding of online safety issues so they can learn to use the internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.

Online safety is essential to keeping children safe at SS John & Monica Catholic Primary School. All our computers and email systems are monitored within the school network to ensure our children stay safe online. The school's Internet connection is filtered and protected using the most up-to-date technologies to help ensure that we provide quality access to the Internet to enhance learning.

Any Online Safety incidents are recorded and managed. Online safety is taught to all pupils, and the students are taught how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.

We can only keep children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the online safety message is consistent. Parents must speak to their children about staying safe and behaving appropriately online.

It’s essential to be realistic - banning the internet or technology will not work and often makes a child less likely to report a problem. Education around safe use is essential.

If you have any concerns or worries about your child and online safety and would like further advice, please contact your child’s class teacher via their class email or the school’s ICT support email: ict@stjonmon.bham.sch.uk
