At SS John & Monica our children are able to receive the following Sacraments:
- The Sacrament of Reconciliation - Year 3
- First Holy Communion - Year 3
- Confirmation - Year 5/6
Parents are invited to attend meetings and Masses in order to be fully involved in the preparation for the Sacraments.
The sacrament of Reconciliation is received by baptised Catholic children before the children make their First Holy Communion in Year 3.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation, gives the children an opportunity to say sorry to God for the things they have done wrong and the wrong decisions they have made.
Eucharist - Holy Communion
Catholic children in Year 3 receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist - Holy Communion.
The children are prepared for this Sacrament, both at school and through the parish. Parents attend regular meetings to prepare them in supporting their child receive this Sacrament. The children and their families attend Holy Communion preparation masses at SS John & Martin's Church to help them reflect on the Sacrament and be prepared for it.
Catholic children in Year 5/6 receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (two year rolling programme).
Through Confirmation preparation in school the children learn about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Both Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation are celebrated with our sister school St Martin de Porres.
