Sacraments

At SS John & Monica's, our children can receive the following Sacraments:

  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation - Year 3
  • First Holy Communion - Year 3
  • Confirmation - Year 5/6

Parents are invited to attend meetings and Masses to be fully involved in the preparation for the Sacraments.

Reconciliation

Baptised Catholic children receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before they make their First Holy Communion in Year 3.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation allows children to say sorry to God for what they have done wrong and their decisions.

Eucharist - Holy Communion

Catholic children in Year 3 receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist - Holy Communion.

The children are prepared for this Sacrament at school and through the parish. Parents attend regular meetings to prepare them to support their children's reception of this Sacrament. The children and their families attend Holy Communion preparation masses at SS John & Martin's Church to help them reflect on the Sacrament and prepare for it.

Confirmation

Catholic children in Year 5/6 receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (two-year rolling programme).

The children learn about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit through Confirmation preparation in school. Our sister school, St Martin de Porres, celebrates Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation.
